Job Description


Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting Materials and Products: Performing inspections at various stages, including incoming raw materials, in-process production, and finished products, using appropriate methods such as visual inspections and dimensional checks.
  • Reading and Interpreting Documentation: Understanding and working from blueprints, drawings, process sheets, specifications, and welding procedure specifications.
  • Using Measuring Tools: Proficiency in using tools like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and potentially Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Identifying and Documenting Non-conformances: Detecting and documenting defects, deviations, or non-conforming products based on established standards and specifications.
  • Maintaining Quality Management Systems: Supporting the implementation and maintenance of quality systems such as ISO 9001 and ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensuring Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and standards within the fabrication environment. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough approach to inspections and documentation.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints and engineering drawings, and understand metal fabrication processes (like welding, machining, etc.).
  • Measurement and Calibration: Proficiency in using various measuring instruments and potentially familiarity with calibration procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for reporting findings, collaborating with colleagues, and potentially interacting with customers or third-party inspectors.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of defects and propose corrective actions.
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, or a manufacturing/metal fabrication environment is often preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: May need to be able to lift a certain amount of weight or perform duties requiring standing for extended periods.
